Association of Intangible Cultural Heritage was founded on March 20, 2012 under the guidance of Prof. M. Öcal Oğuz with the aim of activating and developing the activities of NGOs in the field of cultural heritage, supporting the institutions and researchers studying on this field and contributing to the idea of safeguarding cultural heritage by sustaining it as part of The Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage which was adopted by UNESCO in 2003 and to which Turkey became a party in 2006.

Our Association intends to raise awareness of intangible cultural heritage and develop the activities of NGOs in this field. The Association which consists mostly of academicians strongly believes that, operations on this field should be conducted together with cultural heritage bearers, transmitters and practitioners in order to accomplish the goals.
