Community Involvement

When the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage is examined, it can clearly be seen that, community involvement is supposed to be at the heart of approaches to safeguarding culture. The right to participate in cultural heritage and the right to administer and transmit this heritage is principal when it comes to civil society. It is obvious that, community involvement is obligatory for an eligible safeguarding strategy. A heritage that hasn’t been embraced by society will be lacking regardless of safeguarding policies by consultative bodies or executive departments. Social dialogue might be empowered enabling people directly to be a part of some organized initiatives which aim to designate social and cultural conditions of their habitat and future. It is of high importance to get involved in decision making mechanisms and social and cultural life of cities and also awareness of transmitting the heritage to next generations.
